The invention relates to a surface-area gantry system for machining, assembly and handling tasks, with three axes of motion in the directions X, Y and Z, where the Z axis is provided with machining or grasping mechanisms, notably for the high-speed machining of non-metallic materials. The aim of the invention is to create an especially light and stiff surface-area gantry system suitable for large machining areas and universal applications which consists of simple components and linear modules which are economical to produce even in small numbers and permits relatively high feed rates and accelerations. According to the invention the X, Y and Z axes have linear modules (2) which are driven by synchronous linear motors and consist of a hot- rolled shaped support section (12) having a rectangular or square cross- section and fitted with pair-wise, opposite secondary elements (10). The slides (3) or working slides (1) are made of cast metal in the form of integral components -hich are provided with a wrap-around element (4) for the X, Y and Z axis and contain the primary elements (5).

L'invention concerne un système de portique en nappe pour travaux d'usinage, de montage et de manipulation, avec trois axes de mouvement dans le sens des X, des X et des Z, l'axe des Z étant muni de mécanismes d'usinage ou de préhension, notamment pour l'usinage à grande vitesse de matériaux non métalliques. L'invention vise à mettre au point un système de portique en nappe particulièrement léger et rigide, adapté à des espaces d'usinage importants et pouvant s'utiliser dans des domaines universels, qui doit se composer de sous-groupes et de modules linéaires simples, pouvant également être produits de manière économique en petits nombres. Ce système doit en outre permettre d'atteindre des vitesses d'avancement élevées et des accélérations importantes. Selon l'invention, l'axe des x, des Y et des Z comportent des modules linéaires (2) entraînés par des moteurs linéaires synchrones, qui consistent en un profilé support (12) laminé à chaud, de section transversale rectangulaire ou carrée, muni d'éléments secondaires (10) opposés disposés par paire. Les chariots (3) ou les chariots de travail (1) sont produits sous forme d'éléments intégraux en fonte coulée, qui sont munis d'un élément de serrage (4) pour l'axe des X, des Y et des Z et contiennent les éléments primaires (5).
