A continuous and flexible method and apparatus is provided for applying one or more coating materials to internal and/or external portions of a fiber batt (10) to provide edge (12) and surface (11, 13) coating layers on those surfaces of the fiber batt that will be exposed during subsequent use. The invention provides for the coating to be applied selectively all exposed surfaces of a fiber batt and provided internally within the fiber batt for later splitting into opposing edges, thereby improving both the manufacturing process and the consistency and flexibility of the resulting product by reducing or eliminating the need for subsequent manual coating of unfinished edge surfaces.
L'invention concerne un procédé en continu et flexible ainsi qu'un appareil permettant d'appliquer une ou plusieurs substances de revêtement sur des parties internes et/ou externes d'une natte de fibres (10) afin d'enduire des couches de revêtement de bord (12) et de surface (11, 13) sur ces surfaces de la natte de fibres qui sera exposée pendant son utilisation ultérieure. L'invention concerne le revêtement à appliquer sélectivement sur toutes les surfaces exposées d'une natte d fibres et à appliquer à l'intérieur de la natte de fibres en vue d'une séparation ultérieure en bords opposés, améliorant ainsi le procédé de fabrication, la consistance et la souplesse du produit obtenu par la réduction ou l'élimination de l'utilisation d'un revêtement manuel et surfaces de bord non finies.
