A method of surface marking an article, especially a building product, is provided. One described method includes the steps of laser marking a first graphic design element on a surface of an article and ink-jet printing a second graphic design ele-ment in registry with the first graphic design element on the surface of the article to create a high quality overall graphic design. Also provided are articles made according to this method, and systems for carrying out the method.

L'invention concerne un procédé de marquage de la surface d'un article, particulièrement d'un produit de construction. Un procédé décrit comprend les étapes de marquage au laser d'un premier élément de dessin graphique sur la surface d'un article et l'impression par jet d'encre d'un second élément de dessin graphique aligné avec le premier élément de dessin graphique sur la surface de l'article pour créer un ensemble de dessin graphique de haute qualité. L'invention concerne également des articles réalisés selon ce procédé, ainsi que des systèmes pour mettre en uvre le procédé.
