SURFACE MINING ABSTRACT There is disclosed a method of surface mining wherein a continuous surface miner is moved up and down an inclined surface to remove adjacent strips of material, which may be valuable commodity and/or waste, and the excavated material is transferred to a mobile conveyor which extends along the inclined surface generally parallel to the continuous surface miner.
