The invention relates to surface-modified nanoparticulate metal oxides, in which the metal is selected from the group consisting of aluminum, cerium, iron, titanium, zinc and zirconium. The invention is characterized in that the surface modification has a coating with a copolymer P consisting of: A) 60 to 99 mol % of an N-vinyl lactam, and; B) 1 to 40 mol % of a monomer selected from the group consisting of: b1) C8-C30 alkyl esters of monoethylenically unsaturated C3-C8 carboxylic acids; b2) N-alkyl-substituted or N,N-dialkyl- substituted amides of acrylic acid or of methacrylic acid with C8-C18 alkyl radicals or; b3) the vinyl ester of aliphatic C8-C30 carboxylic acids or mixtures of these monomers.

La présente invention concerne des oxydes métalliques nanoparticulaires à surface modifiée, dans lesquels le métal est choisi dans le groupe formé par l'aluminium, le cérium, le fer, le titane, le zinc et le zirconium. Ces oxydes sont caractérisés en ce que la modification de surface comprend un revêtement avec un copolymère P constitué A) de 60 à 99 % mol. d'une N-vinyllactame et B) de 1 à 40 % mol. d'un monomère choisi dans le groupe formé par b1) des esters C8-C30-alkyliques d'acides C3-C8-carboxyliques monoéthyléniquement insaturés b2) des amides à substitution N-alkyle ou N,N-dialkyle d'acide acrylique ou d'acide méthacrylique avec des radicaux alkyle C8-C18 ou b3) l'ester vinylique d'acides C3-C30-carboxyliques aliphatiques ou des mélanges de ces monomères.
