A continuous belt casting apparatus is provided with a casting cavity, and at least one flexible metal belt having an elongated casting surface passing through and at least partially defining the casting cavity. A motor is provided for rotating the metal belt in the longitudinal direction of the casting surface whereby the casting surface passes through the casting cavity in the longitudinal direction. A molten metal supply device delivers molten metal continuously to the casting cavity, so that molten metal supplied to the casting cavity is solidified and removed as a continuous strip ingot from the casting cavity by rotation of the belt. The casting surface is provided with a plurality of grooves oriented in substantially the same direction. The invention also relates to a casting belt for such an apparatus and a method of casting using the apparatus.
L'invention concerne un appareil de coulée continue à courroie, qui comprend une cavité de coulée et au moins une courroie métallique flexible possédant une surface de coulée allongée passant à travers et définissant au moins partiellement la cavité de coulée. Un moteur permet de faire tourner la courroie métallique dans le sens longitudinal de la surface de coulée, faisant ainsi passer cette dernière dans la cavité de coulée dans le sens longitudinal. Un dispositif d'approvisionnement de métal en fusion distribue du métal en fusion en continu dans la cavité de coulée, de façon que le métal en fusion approvisionné dans ladite cavité de coulée se solidifie et soit retiré de la cavité de coulée par rotation de la courroie en tant que lingot de bande continue. La surface de coulée est pourvue d'une pluralité de rainures sensiblement orientées dans le même sens. L'invention concerne également une courroie de coulée destinée audit appareil ainsi qu'un procédé de coulée faisant intervenir ledit appareil.
