Abstract: Surface Treatment A method and apparatus suitable for treating a surface, e.g. that of a road, which comprises at least one aggregate (8) in a binder matrix (9). The invention resides in applying fine abrasive particles (11) each having a mean diameter of up to 500 microns so that they will be bonded only to those portions of aggregate (8) in the binder matrix (9) which will be directly exposed to wear. The method is applicable to new or old surfaces and also to runways, pavements and sports surfaces.
