A method of treating a substrate comprises contacting a surface of said substrate with a pressurized fluid comprising carbon dioxide and a surface treatment component, the surface treatment component being entrained in the pressurized fluid and contacting the surface so that the surface treatment component lowers the surface tension of the surface of the substrate and treats the substrate. The contacting step is preferably carried out by immersion, the fluid is preferably a liquid or supercritical fluid, the substrate is preferably a metal or fabric substrate, and the surface treatment component is preferably a fluoroacrylate polymer.

L'invention concerne un procédé pour traiter un substrat, consistant à mettre la surface de ce substrat en contact avec un fluide sous pression contenant du dioxyde de carbone et un composant de traitement de surface. Le composant de traitement de surface est transporté dans le fluide sous pression est arrive sur la surface de manière à abaisser la tension superficielle sur le substrat et à traiter le substrat. L'opération de mise en contact est réalisée de préférence par immersion, le fluide est de préférence un liquide ou un fluide surcritique, le substrat est préférence un métal ou un textile et le composant de traitement de surface est de préférence un polymère fluoroacrylate.
