Abstract of the Disclosure The formation of minimized spangle galvanized steel sheet by impacting zinc powder particles on the molten zinc coating of the sheet to initiate crystallization is improved by adding a small amount of a hydrophobic material, preferably hydrophobic silica, to the zinc powder. The tendencies of the zinc powder to metallize and agglomerate are markedly decreased, leading to a more consistent minimized surface appearance, improved paintability and improved consistency of in-line temper rolling operation.
