A solvent band casting system (10) is disclosed which contains a tank (12) for mixing and/or storing a polymer solution for a band casting machine (14) having at least a first (16) and a second rotating drums (18) about which a continuous metal band (20) is tensioned to travel with the rotation of the drums. A sheeting die (22) applies the polymer solution from the tank to the metal band where a drying chamber (24), enclosing a least a portion of the metal band downline of the sheeting die, is used to remove solvent from the polymer solution as it travels in a thin sheet on the metal band. A surfactant applicator (31) in communication with a supply of surfactant (66) and a portion of the metal band (20) is disclosed. In addition, the use of a surfactant to substantially reduce or eliminate bubbles in the polymer film product is disclosed, as well as the mechanisms by which the surfactant is believed to facilitate bubble reduction. Finally, a system controller (36) can be connected to monitor and/or control at least one component of the system.
L'invention concerne un système de coulage en bande avec solvant, comprenant un réservoir permettant de mélanger et/ou de stocker une solution polymère destinée à une machine de coulage en bande comprenant au moins un premier et un second tambour rotatif autour desquels une bande de métal continue est tendue de manière à être entraînée par la rotation des tambours. Une filière produisant une nappe continue applique la solution polymère contenue dans le réservoir sur la bande métallique, et une chambre de séchage, qui entoure au moins une partie de la bande métallique, en aval de la filière produisant une nappe continue, permet d'éliminer le solvant de la solution polymère pendant qu'elle se déplace sous forme de couche mince sur la bande métallique. L'invention concerne également un applicateur de tensioactif qui communique avec une réserve de tensioactif et avec une partie de la bande métallique. L'invention se rapporte en outre sur l'utilisation d'un tensioactif pour réduire ou éliminer sensiblement les bulles formées dans le film polymère résultante, et sur les mécanismes par lesquels le tensioactif contribue à la réduction des bulles. Enfin, une unité de commande du système peut être raccordée au système afin de surveiller et/ou de commander au moins un composant du système.
