A B S T R A C T SURFACTANT COMPOSITION AND PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF OIL USING SUCH A COMPOSITION Surfactant composition for use in the production of oil, comprising an alkyl aryl sulphonate in the form of a salt, at least one cosurfactant, water and at least one glycol derivative selected from mono C1-C7 alkyl ethers of ethylene or propylene glycol, mono C1-C5 alkyl ethers of diethylene or dipropylene glycol, mono C1-C3 alkyl ethers of ethylene or propylene triglycol and mono C1-C3 alkyl glycol ethers of formic or acetic acid, in which composition the components are present in such quantities, that the amount of the glycol derivative(s) is between 5 and 75 pbw per 100 pbw of alkyl aryl sulphonate and the amount of the cosurfactant(s) is between 1 and 100 pbw per 100 pbw of alkyl aryl sulphonate.
