A surfactant for enhanced oil recovery and capable of reducing viscosity of heavy oils in pipelines or pumps, comprising polyisobutilene of 6 to 9 carbon atoms mixed With 1 to 50 weight percent of at least one member of the group consisting of etoxi alcohols, nonylphenols and/or polyethylene glycols. A method is also provided for the enhanced recovery of oil employing said surfactant.
