TITLE SURFACTANT TREATMENT OF POLYARAMIDE GAS SEPARATION MEMBRANES ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for improving the permselectivity of asymmetric polyaramide gas separation membranes is disclosed. The process involves contacting the membrane with a dilute solution of a surfactant in a solvent which preferably swells the membrane material. The surfactants are anionic, nonionic or amphoteric with the fluorinated nonionic surfactants being preferred.
