ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE There are described surfactants derived from dicar- boxylic hydroxyacids having general formula: Image (I) wherein: R2 is H or -OH; R, R1, equal to or different from each other, are H, a metallic ion, -NH4, a cation of an organic base of ammonium or a group having formula: -An - R3 (II) wherein A is a C2-C4 oxyalkylenic group, n is a number ranging from 1 to 20, R3 is a C8-C20 alkyl group wherein at least one of said R, R1 is an -An-R3 group and wherein the group or the -OH groups of the compound having formula (I) can be esteri- fied or etherified by usual methods.
