The surge arrester contains two connection fittings (1, 2) which are spaced apart from one another along an axis and between which at least one cylindrical varistor element (7) is arranged. The connection fittings (1, 2) and the at least one varistor element (7) are clamped with one another, accompanied by the formation of contact force, to form a mechanically stable active part of the surge arrester. The active part is surrounded by a cast housing (12) made from insulating material. The clamping of the active part is achieved by at least two loops (5) respectively acting independently of one another on the connection fittings (1, 2). The loops (5) are arranged at a distance from the at least one varistor element (7). The connection fittings (1, 2) contain bearing areas which correspond respectively to the number of the loops (5) and are distributed uniformly about the axis azimuthally and on which a loop end is respectively supported. Despite its simple design, the surge arrester has good mechanical and electrical characteristics and can be produced in a particularly cost-effective way.

Cette invention concerne un protecteur de surtension qui comprend deux raccords de connexion (1, 2) espacés l'un de l'autre le long d'un axe et entre lesquels est monté au moins un varistor cylindrique (7). Les raccords de connexion (1, 2) et le(s) varistor(s) (7) sont serrés les uns aux autres suivant une force de contact appropriée pour former une partie active mécaniquement stable de l'objet de l'invention. Cette partie active est placée dans un logement moulé (12) en matériau isolant. L'assemblage serré de ladite partie active est réalisé au moyen d'au moins deux boucles (5) agissant respectivement et indépendamment sur l'un des raccords de connexion (1, 2). Les boucles (5) sont montées à une certaine distance du(des) varistor(s) (7). Les raccords de connexion (1, 2) comportent des portées en nombre correspondant à celui des boucles (5), uniformément réparties en azimut le long de l'axe susmentionné et recevant une extrémité de la boucle correspondante. Malgré sa simplicité de construction, l'objet de l'invention présente des caractéristiques électriques et mécaniques supérieures et dégage un coût de revient particulièrement avantageux.
