A surgical instrument, such as a surgical cutting and fas-tening instrument, with an automatically articulatable end effector. The surgical instrument may comprise an end effector, a shaft, and an articu-latable joint assembly connected between the end effector and the shaft. The joint assembly comprises at least one motor for articulating the end effector relative to the shaft. The joint assembly comprises at least one articulation sensor for sensing articulation of the end effector relative to the shaft. The instrument further comprises a control unit in communica-tion with the articulation sensor and the motor. The control unit com-prises at least one memory unit for storing articulation data from the at least one articulation sensor. When activated, the control unit sends con-trol signals to the motor of the joint assembly to articulate automatically the end effector to a desired position based on the articulation data from the articulation sensor that is stored in the memory unit of the control unit.
L'invention porte sur un instrument chirurgical, tel qu'un instrument chirurgical de coupe et de fixation, avec un effecteur terminal automatiquement articulé. L'instrument chirurgical peut comporter un effecteur terminal, un arbre et un ensemble liaison articulée placé entre l'effecteur terminal et l'arbre. L'ensemble articulation comporte au moins un moteur destiné à articuler l'effecteur terminal par rapport à l'arbre. L'ensemble articulation comporte au moins un capteur d'articulation destiné à détecter une articulation de l'organe terminal effecteur par rapport à l'arbre. L'instrument comporte en outre une unité de commande en communication avec le capteur d'articulation et le moteur. L'unité de commande comporte au moins une unité de mémoire destinée à mémoriser des données d'articulation à partir du ou des capteurs d'articulation. Lorsqu'elle est activée, l'unité de commande envoie des signaux de commande au moteur de l'ensemble articulation afin d'articuler automatiquement l'effecteur terminal en une position désirée sur la base des données d'articulation issues du capteur d'articulation, qui sont mémorisées dans l'unité de mémoire de l'unité de commande.
