A device for forming openings (holes) in internal bodily tissue is provided. The device includes a cutter defining a longitudinal passageway and a cutting edge. The device also includes an inner core in reciprocally sliding relationship with the cutter having a tissue engagement portion at its distal end. A syringe-like mechanism moves the cutter and the core substantially co- axially between a first position wherein the distal portion of the core extends distally of the cutting edge and a second position wherein the distal portion of the core resides within the passageway. Tissue is sheared as the core and cutter are moved from the first to the second position. The core and cutter are attached to different portions of the syringe-like mechanism such that the longitudinal axes of the cutter passageway, the core member and the activation assembly may deviate (i.e., "float") relative to one another.
La présente invention concerne un dispositif de formation d'ouvertures (trous) dans un tissu organique interne. Ledit dispositif comprend un instrument tranchant définissant un passage longitudinal et un bord tranchant. Ledit dispositif comprend également une âme interne pouvant coulisser par rapport à l'instrument tranchant présentant une partie venant en contact avec le tissu au niveau de son extrémité distale. Un mécanisme de type seringue déplace l'instrument tranchant et l'âme sensiblement coaxialement entre une première position où la partie distale de l'âme s'étend distalement par rapport au bord tranchant et une seconde position où la partie distale de l'âme réside dans le passage. Le tissu est cisaillé lorsque l'âme et l'instrument tranchant se déplacent de la première à la seconde position. L'âme et l'instrument tranchant sont fixés à des parties différentes du mécanisme de type seringue de telle sorte que les axes longitudinaux du passage de l'instrument tranchant, de l'élément d'âme et de l'ensemble d'activation peuvent s'écarter (c'est-à-dire, "flotter") les uns par rapport aux autres.
