This invention is a surgical scalpel (10) having a retractable sleeve (70). An elongated handle (50) with a contoured grip portion is releasably attached to a blade holder (20) securing a surgical blade (12). The blade holder (20) is secured to the handle (50) by a hook (32) and groove assembly and a male to female connection. The sleeve (70) slides between an extended position and a retracted position on the handle (50) and blade holder (20). The extended position of the sleeve (70) covers the blade (12) thereby protecting operating room personnel. An arch (74) on the sleeve contacts the hook (32) and disengages the hook (32) out of the groove to facilitate removal of the blade holder.
L'invention a pour objet un scalpel chirurgical (10) à gaine (70) rétractable. Ledit scalpel comporte un manche allongé (50) avec une poignée profilée, relié de façon amovible à un porte-lame (20) maintenant une lame chirurgicale (12). Le porte-lame (20) est maintenu dans le manche (50) par un crochet (32), un assemblage à rainure et une liaison mâle-femelle. La gaine (70) coulisse sur le manche (50) et sur le porte-lame entre une position sortie et une position rétractée. En position sortie, la gaine (70) recouvre la lame (12), protégeant ainsi le personnel de la salle d'opération. Le retrait du porte-lame (20) est facilité par un arc (74) situé sur la gaine et mis en contact avec le crochet (32) pour que celui-ci puisse être désengagé de la rainure.
