ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A surgical stapler having a pivotable trigger in a housing and a magazine of surgical staples, has an anvil which receives one staple at-a-time and lowers the staple to become exposed below the housing, afterwhich a forming blade presses upon the top of the staple forcing its legs to pierce and close for joining adjacent edges of tissue of an opening.
