ABSTRACT (SURVEYOR'S HELPER) The device is used in the field of surveying. Its function is to hold in an upright position, the survey rod, thereby eliminating the need for a "rod man". This invention involves a steel foot plate being supported on four legs. Located in the centre of the steel foot plate is a two inch diameter hole. Two steel rods support a four inch square plate (upper plate) directly above the two inch diameter hole located in the steel foot plate. Located in the upper plate is a similar two inch diameter hole. The survey rod is supported by inserting the rod through the hole in the upper plate and down through the hole in the foot plate. The device is free standing on any level area or the legs can be inserted into loose material such, as sand/gravel, to support it from falling over.
