ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Conventionally, two lengths of cross T-bar engage one upon each side of the main T-bar. In the usual con- struction, the ends of the cross bar portions just rest on the flange of the main T-bar and are therefore easily dis- placed. In another construction, they interlock through a slot in the web, can still twist and need upper clearance to engage same with the main T-bar. The present invention consists of each cross bar portion having a projecting nose portion upon the ends thereof with a hook or notch formed on the underside thereof. The projecting web end engages through a slot in the web of the main T-bar and the notch or hook is engaged over an upstanding channel formed along the edge of the flange of the main T-bar so that twisting of the cross bars relative to the main T- bar is avoided and engagement can be made from below with practically zero clearance between the ceiling and the main T-bar. Further projections from the ends of the flanges of the cross T-bar may engage notches in the flanges of the main T-bar and firmly lock the cross bars into position to prevent movement up or down or from side to side as well as preventing twisting from occurring.
