A suspended shelter for use over water or uneven ground is formed from a suspended roof tarpaulin that snares an interior perimeter frame from which wall tarpaulins depend. The frame is preferably of lightweight tubing and forms a closed figure. The roof tarpaulin is preferably conical or pyramidal and had a suspension lug at its apex for attachment to a block and tackle or a boom. The perimeter of the roof tarpaulin retains a snaring cable that when drawn tight snares the frame against the suspended roof. Adjacent wall tarpaulins depending from the perimeter frame are joined by zippers to from an enclosure.
