A suspension system for a trailer having stub axles includes a first support and a second support both of which are adapted to be secured to a subframe of a trailer. A slider member slides along the second support on a vertical plane between a first stop and a second stop. An arm is provided having a first end and a second end. The first end of the arm is pivotally mounted to the first support for movement about a substantially horizontal first pivot axis. The second end of the arm pivotally engages the slider of the second support. With the suspension system, as described above, the second end of the arm is supported by the second support which limits lateral movement and up and down travel of the arm.
