The flavorant release composition consists essentially of a homogenous dispersion of a liquid flavorant agent and polyvinyl acetate having a number average molecular weight of about 150,000 to about 200,000 daltons. The weight ratio of the liquid flavorant agent to polyvinyl acetate is about 1:5 to about 5:1, respectively. A method of producing the flavorant release composition includes admixing the polyvinyl acetate, dissolved in a volatile, nonreactive organic solvent, with the flavorant release agent at a temperature at which the flavorant release agent does not degrade. The solvent is then removed. The chewable structure includes the flavorant release composition and a gum base composition.
