A tool for inserting a suture anchor is disclosed. The tool comprises a) a handle portion having a grip portion, and a trigger portion slidably mounted to the grip portion, the trigger portion having an axial bore; and b) an elongated operating portion comprising an outer tube disposed within the bore of the trigger portion and movable between distal and proximal positions, the outer tube being resiliently biased to the distal position, and a rod slidably disposed within an axial bore of the outer tube, the rod having a proximal end fixedly attached to the grip portion and a distal end having an open configured to engage a suture anchor.
