Disclosed is a method for connecting together a fiber-protective sheath to a fiber assembly including a fiber covered by a protective multi-layerskin comprising an inner cladding and an outer jacketing. Such a connection is achieved by swaging with a metal sleeve at least one end of the sheath to a correspodniong portion of the fiber assembly in such a manner that the inner cladding of the fiber assembly is not plastically deformed. The resulting product can be part of a laparoscopic probe or of any other instrument wherein one end of a glass fiber is threaded through a stainless steel sheath.

Voici une méthode pour marier un revêtement de protection de fibres à une fibre, y compris une fibre recouverte d'un revêtement multicouche de protection comprenant une gaine intérieure et un chemisage extérieur. Un tel mariage est réussi en appliquant par impression, au moyen d'un manchon métallique, au moins une extrémité du revêtement à la partie correspondante de la fibre de manière à ce que la gaine intérieure de la fibre ne soit pas déformée par le plastique.
