A swath conditioner and mover comprises a frame adapted to travel in a forward direction along the ground with a lower crimping roller rotatably mounted to the frame such that the axis of rotation thereof is at an angle less than ninety degrees to the direction of travel. The lower crimping roller comprises a rough surface suitable for picking a swath from the ground. An upper crimping roller cooperates with the lower crimping roller and is rotatably mounted to the frame above the lower crimping roller. A drive rotates the upper and lower crimping rollers such that the bottom rough surface of the lower crimping roller moves generally forward. The vertical position of the lower crimping roller is substantially parallel and in proximity to the ground such that as the frame travels along the ground, a swath is picked from the ground by contact with the rough surface of the lower crimping roller and is fed between the rollers, and falls back on the ground behind the crimping rollers at a position to one side of its original position. Multiple conditioner movers may be mounted on a single frame to process adjacent swaths. A quick adjustment is provided for the separation between upper and lower rollers.
