ABSTRACT A stabilizer device for attachment to a pull-type swather and including a rotatable disc colter mounted on an arm and movable to a position to penetrate the soil and thereby act as a rudder and prevent side drift of the swather. Known devices, which have been devised for preventing side drift, have tended to be expensive but not exceptionally effective. The disc colter can be mounted for retraction to a travel position, and when in the operative position, it is forced to a ground penetrating position by way of a spring so that it can ride over rocks and such obstacles without damaging the disc colter or significantly affecting its stabilizing characteristics..
