2044613 9106205 PCTABS00005 A pick-up header for a combine is designed to improve the control of the material from a window as it is picked up from the ground and transported to the feeder housing (10) of the combine. Immediately rearwardly of the pick-up fingers (33) is provided an air transportation device (35) including a plurality of openings (37) through which air is forced to carry the material rearwardly twoward the feeder housing (10) while allowing the escape of stones. Rearwardly of the air transportation device (35) is a sheet (42) which inclines downwardly toward the curved feeding surface (17) of the feeder housing (10) with the pick-up (32), air transportation device (35) and guide sheet (42) all pivotally mounted relative to the feeder housing (10). A feed roller (20) includes a plurality of fingers (25) which rotate with the roller (20) about an eccentric axis so that the fingers (25) project outwardly at the front of the roller (20) to a length extending just to the rear of the pick-up fingers (33) and then retract at the rear of the roller (20). The roller (20) is of larger diameter than conventional allowing the fingers (25) to project forwardly to a greater extent than conventional.
