A latch assembly is mounted in an aperture formed in a first member for releasably retaining the first member against a corresponding second member and in a latched position. The latch assembly includes a handle which is adapted for pivotal rotation. A shaft is included which is connected with the handle. The handle is adapted to facilitate axial movement of the shaft as the handle is pivotally rotated between open and closed positions. A latch is provided on the shaft which is adapted for axial movement corresponding with movement of the shaft. The latch is adapted to releasably retain the second member in engagement with the first member when the handle is in its closed position. A retaining member is also included in connection with the shaft which is adapted for securing the latch in its mounted position on the shaft. The handle also includes at least one member engaging the shaft which in operation is adapted to provide sufficient drag thereon in order to prevent pivotal rotation of the shaft relative to the handle upon mounting in the aperture in the first member.
La présente invention a pour objet un ensemble de verrou monté à l'intérieur d'une ouverture formée dans un premier élément pour maintenir sélectivement un premier élément contre un deuxième élément correspondant dans une position verrouillée. L'ensemble de verrou comporte une poignée conçue pour être animée d'un mouvement de rotation. Une tige est reliée à la poignée en question. La poignée est conçue de manière à faciliter le mouvement axial de la tige lorsque animée d'un mouvement de rotation entre une position fermée et une position ouverte. Un verrou monté sur la tige est conçu pour effectuer un mouvement axial correspondant au mouvement de la tige. Le verrou est conçu de manière à maintenir sélectivement le deuxième élément en prise avec le premier élément lorsque la poignée se trouve dans la position fermée. Un organe de retenue est également raccordé à la tige, lequel est conçu pour maintenir le verrou en position sur la tige. La poignée comporte en outre au moins un élément venant en prise avec la tige et qui est destiné à exercer sur celle-ci une force suffisante pour prévenir la rotation de la tige par rapport à la poignée lorsque montée dans l'ouverture pratiquée dans le premier élément.
