ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A swimming pool cover reeling device has a pair of spaced, parallel, horizontal rails mounted on each side of a swimming pool from a point inwardly of. the end of the swimming pool to a point outwardly of said end, A pair of carriages are mounted on the rails for guided movement therealong and a cover reeling drum extends trans- versely of the rails and is rotatably supported by the carriages, the reeling drum being provided with a crank handle to wind and unwind a buoyant cover. The winding and unwinding operations are carried out while the reeling drum is pushed along the rails over the water, 80 that the cover will not touch the sides of the pool, and the reeling drum, with the cover wound thereon, is pushed to the outside of the pool when the latter is used so as not to interfere with the swimmers. The system is particularly suitable for swimming pools of irregular or circular shapes and, especially, for such pools of the above ground type.
