This invention is a device for cleaning the water surface of a swimming pool. This claim relates to the utility and inventive ingenuity of the mechanical design of this device. It is common knowledge that a deflector arm or similar device set up in a particular fashion will guide floating contaminants into a skimmer inlet. However, the method of attaching the arm to the pool wall and skimmer inlet with the materials outlined in the specifications result in a more efficient device for cleaning the surface of a pool. The brass safety cup hooks (or equivalent) allow for an adjustment of the deflector arm of a 30° to 90° angle from the skimmer inlet (i.e. optimum cleaning may dictate a 60° angle). This coupled with the shape of the wooden deflector arm results in maximum skimmer efficiency regardless of the nature of the waterflow and suspended contaminants. This device reduces pool cleaning to a fraction of the previous time since most contaminants are guided into the skimmer before they settle to the bottom of the pool. This is a portable, lightweight device for cleaning the water surface of any size and shape of swimming pool fitted with a skimmer.
