A garment such as a swimsuit is provided having the holding power of a typical figure control swimsuit using a single panel construction. The fabric of the garment includes a substantially uniform stretch in both the longitudinal and horizontal directions. The fabric is cut to include a high modulus in the horizontal direction of the suit, as compared to the vertical direction, so as to provide improved retention and camouflage of body parts.

On décrit un vêtement tel qu'un maillot de bain obtenu à partir d'un seul pan et possédant un pouvoir gainant qui caractérise les maillots de bain visant à améliorer la silhoutette. Le tissu du vêtement présente une élasticité sensiblement uniforme dans le sens longitudinal ainsi que dans le sens horizontal. Le tissu est également coupé de manière à présenter un module élevé dans le sens horizontal du maillot par rapport au sens vertical, ce qui permet d'obtenir une amélioration du pouvoir gainant ainsi que du camouflage des parties du corps.
