ABSTRACT In a swing-type check valve for allowing the flow of fluids in one direction only in industrial plumbing applications, it is known to manufacture the swinging hanger member of one piece and attach the valve clapper by means of a separate screw or clamp. In this invention, the hanger assembly is formed of two pieces, each piece being held pivotally captive on a hanger pin, with a portion of each hanger member defining a convex recess in order to interfit with and embrace the valve disc neck of the valve clapper. The valve clapper therefore can be manufactured in one piece with the valve disc neck machined to whatever tolerance is desired in order to closely interfit with the hanger assembly. The close fit between the hanger assembly and the valve disc neck eliminates problems of valve failure due to such problems as valve disc misalignment.
