ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The disclosure describes a swing valve having a valve plate and a drive for producing the swinging movement of the valve plate. This valve should be capable of producing a sealing force when the valve plate is in closed position. For this purpose, the drive which produces the swinging movement of the valve plate also serves to produce a movement of the valve plate at right angle to the sealing plane, after the valve plate has come to a stop in the closed position.
