The switching apparatus (1) has a grounded, insulating gas-filled metal housing (2). The metal housing (2) accommodates a power circuit-breaker (12) and a grounding switch (14). Passed through the wall of the metal housing (2) are a current connection for a busbar (SS) and a current connection for an outgoer which is formed by a line (L) or a cable. The metal housing (2) additionally accommodates a busbar disconnector (13), which is connected between the busbar-side current connection and the power circuit- breaker (12), and carries an outdoor bushing (7) for the busbar-side current connection. With this switching apparatus (1), it is possible to realize a multiplicity of switching configurations between the busbar (SS) situated outdoors and the outgoer. At the same time, the individual switches (12, 13, 14, 17, 18) and the sensors (15, 16, 17, 18), which are of space-saving design and are used, for instance, for current and voltage measurement, of this switching apparatus are accommodated in the protective and insulating metal housing (2). In comparison with outdoor switching apparatuses having a comparable action, the switching apparatus (1) is distinguished, therefore, by a more compact design and greater availability.
