An electronic switching circuit includes a relay which controls the 9-volt D C power source to the smoke detector this simplified switching circuit functions in the following manner The normally closed side of the switching circuit is connected to the 9-volt battery terminal of the smoke detector which is commonly used in most homes, the normally opened side of the switching circuit is connected directly on to the terminal of the 9-volt battery a 9-volt D C power adaptor plugs into the power terminal of the switching circuit whenever the 9- volt DC power adaptor is plugged into a electrical wall outlet this activates the relay powering the 9-volt DC smoke detector directly from the 9-volt DC adaptor and the battery within the smoke detector is connected to the normally open side of the relay meaning the battery is not in use, whenever a electrical failure accrues the normally open side of the relay which is connected to the battery closes allowing the 9-volt battery to power the smoke detector whenever the electrical problem as been corrected and the 9-volt DC power adaptor is back in use the relay is energized opening the circuit from the 9-volt battery. The battery is only used as back-up whenever there's a electrical power failure This is a very small switching circuit which can be placed directly inside of the smoke detector housing.
