A switching mechanism provides sequential switching of first and second circuit breakers to enable switching between a primary power supply and a backup power supply. The switching mechanism comprises a first actuator plate to operate a first circuit breaker connected to a primary power supply, a second actuator plate to operate a second circuit breaker connected to a secondary power supply, and an actuator. The first and second actuator plates are independently movable between on and off positions. The actuator is operatively connected to the first and second actuator plates so that the actuator moves the first actuator plate to an on position and the second actuator plate to an off position when the actuator is moved in a first direction, and moves the first actuator plate to an off position and the second actuator plate to an on position when the actuator is moved in a second direction. An override enables movement of the first and second actuator plates from the on position to the off position when the other actuator plate is in the off position. The switching mechanism can be installed in an existing distribution panel in a home of building.
L'invention concerne un mécanisme de commutation permettant la commutation séquentielle d'un premier et d'un second disjoncteur pour passer d'une alimentation principale à une alimentation de réserve et inversement. Le mécanisme de commutation comprend une première plaque de commande permettant d'actionner un premier disjoncteur connecté à une alimentation principale, une seconde plaque de commande permettant d'actionner un second disjoncteur connecté à une alimentation secondaire, ainsi qu'un moyen de commande. La première et la seconde plaque de commande peuvent se déplacer indépendamment d'une position de marche à une position d'arrêt et inversement. Le moyen de commande est connecté fonctionnellement à la première et à la seconde plaque de commande. Le moyen de commande peut ainsi déplacer la première plaque de commande vers une position de marche et la seconde plaque de commande vers une position d'arrêt lorsqu'il est déplacé dans une première direction, et déplacer la première plaque de commande vers une position d'arrêt et la seconde plaque de commande vers une position de marche lorsqu'il est déplacé dans une seconde direction. Un interrupteur manuel permet de déplacer la première et la seconde plaque de commande de la position de marche à la position d'arrêt lorsque l'autre plaque de commande est en position d'arrêt. Le mécanisme de commutation peut être installé dans un panneau de distribution existant, dans une construction individuelle.
