ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A switching regulator whose switching transistor is controlled by a pulse width modulator wherein, an elec- tronic switch is provided which connects the potential carrying output terminal of the switching regulator with a control input of the pulse width modulator (PBM) as long as energy is flowing out of the smoothing capacitor at the output end of the switching regulator. This arrangement permits detection of the average value of the output voltage without the need for phase integration members.
