ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A swivel type end fitting for a tube or hose includes a hollow cylindrical insert having a first end portion, an intermediate portion, and a second end portion. A first external shoulder is defined between the first end portion of the insert and the intermediate portion, while a second external shoulder is defined between the intermediate portion and the second end portion. The end fitting also includes a swivel nut having an internal shoulder defined thereon. During assembly, the swivel nut is moved axially over the insert until the inner shoulder thereof engages the first external shoulder of the insert. The end fitting further includes a hollow cylindrical collar having a partially closed end portion. During assembly, the collar is moved axially over the insert until the partially closed end portion thereof engages the second external shoulder of the insert. The tube or hose is inserted into the end fitting about the insert and within the collar until the leading edge thereof engages the partially closed end portion of the collar. Once the end fitting has been assembled in this manner, a conventional crimping machine can be used to compress portions of the collar about the end of the tube or the hose to retain the end fitting thereon.
