SYNCHRONIZATION FOR PCM TRANSMISSION SYSTEMS Abstract of the Disclosure At the transmitter the synchronization information is provided by position modulation of the line transitions of at least one bit of a PCM word. The receiver is synchronized to the received coded signal by detecting the position modulation of the bit of the PCM word. This arrangement avoids the need for extra bits to convey synchronization information. - 1 -
