In a blow-molding system in which a parison programmer is coupled to orifice tooling in an extrusion die head for controlling wall thickness of an extruded parison fed to a blow-molding apparatus, a method of synchronizing operation of the parison programmer contemplates placement of observable indicia on the parison after the parison exits the die head. This indicia placement preferably is carried out under control of the parison programmer to place the indicia at a predetermined position along the parison profile, such that mis-positioning of the indicia indicates absence of phase synchronization of the parison programmer. The indicia is then observed on a molded article to determine phasing of the parison programmer relative to the molding apparatus, and operation of the parison programmer is adjusted to correct any mis-positioning. In the preferred implementation of the invention, the readable indicia comprises an optically readable spot or dot, and position of this spot or dot on the molded article is determined by an optical sensor that provides an electrical signal for automatic closed-loop correction of parison programmer phasing without operator intervention.
Système de moulage par soufflage dans lequel un programmateur de paraison est couplé à l'outillage d'extrusion d'une tête de filière pour régler l'épaisseur d'une paraison extrudée alimentant un dispositif de moulage par soufflage et méthode permettant de synchroniser le fonctionnement du programmateur de paraison consistant à placer une marque visible sur la paraison après sa sortie de la tête de la filière. La marque est de préférence réalisée sous la surveillance du programmateur de paraison pour qu'elle se retrouve à un emplacement prédéterminé le long du profil de la paraison, de sorte qu'un positionnement erroné de cette marque indique l'absence de synchronisation des phases du programmateur de paraison. La marque est alors observée sur l'objet moulé pour déterminer la synchronisation du programmateur de paraison par rapport au dispositif de moulage, et le fonctionnement du programmateur de paraison est réglé de manière à corriger tout positionnement erroné. Dans une application privilégiée de l'invention, la marque pouvant être lue est une trace ou un point reconnaissables au moyen d'un lecteur optique, et l'emplacement de la trace ou du point sur l'objet moulé est déterminé par un capteur optique qui envoie un signal électrique pour la correction automatique en boucle fermée de la synchronisation du programmateur de paraison sans intervention de l'utilisateur.
