A mechanism with an inner race, which has cams, an outer race and rollers between the cams and the outer race. The inner race has a first notch while the outer race has a second notch with a narrow portion and a wider portion. A member is disposed in the first and second notches. Positioning of the member in the first notch and the narrow portion of the second notch inhibits relative rotation between the inner and outer races and power is not transmitted between the outer race and a power transmitting member, such as a gear. Positioning of the member in the first notch and the wider portion of the second notch permits some relative rotation between the inner and outer races to cause the cams to urge the rollers outwardly so that the outer race frictionally engages the power transmitting member to facilitate transmission of rotary power therebetween.
L'invention concerne un mécanisme avec une cage intérieure, qui comporte des cames, une cage extérieure et des rouleaux entre les cames et la cage extérieure. La cage intérieure présente une première encoche alors que la cage extérieure présente une seconde encoche avec une partie étroite et une partie plus large. Un élément est disposé dans les première et seconde encoches. Le positionnement de l'élément dans la première encoche et de la partie étroite de la seconde encoche empêche une rotation relative entre les cages intérieure et extérieure et l'énergie n'est pas transmise entre la cage extérieure et un élément de transmission d'énergie, comme un engrenage. Le positionnement de l'élément dans la première encoche et de la partie plus large de la seconde encoche permet une certaine rotation relative entre les cages intérieure et extérieure pour amener les cames à presser les rouleaux vers l'extérieur de sorte que la cage extérieure mette en prise par frottement l'élément de transmission d'énergie pour faciliter la transmission d'énergie rotative entre eux.
