ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION Polymers are flame-retarded by novel combinations of additives comprising: (a) a specified compound of iron, cobalt, nickel, tin or antimony, (b) an alkali metal chloride, bromide or iodide, and (c) an organic acid or inorganic acid salt. Alternatively, additive (c) may be an integral part of the polymer in whole or in part.
