A method of generating a synthesis gas product stream (168) and carbon dioxide in which a fuel is combusted in an oxygen transport membrane combustor (10) to produce a flue gas stream (12) containing the carbon dioxide and water. Reforming duty is divided between a combined reforming process (14, 18) and a gas heated reformer (22) to produce the product stream. The flue gas stream (12) is used to supply heat to a primary, steam methane reforming stage (14) of the combined reforming process (14, 18). Residual methane, produced in the primary stage, is reacted in a secondary stage having an oxygen transport membrane reactor (18). Heat produced in the secondary stage is supplied to the gas heated reactor (22) to support its operation. The flue gas stream (12) is cooled (26) and water (30) is separated therefrom to produce the carbon dioxide (32) at a concentration of at least 85 mol percent .

L'invention concerne un procédé permettant la production d'un flux de gaz de synthèse et de dioxyde de carbone, ce procédé consistant à brûler un combustible dans un brûleur (10) à membrane de transport d'oxygène afin de produire un flux (12) de gaz de combustion contenant le dioxyde de carbone et de l'eau. L'opération de reformage est divisée entre un système (14, 18) de reformage combiné et un reformeur (22) chauffé au gaz pour produire un flux de produit résultant. La flux (12) de gaz de combustion est utilisé pour transférer de la chaleur à l'étage (14) de reformage de méthane à la vapeur du système (14, 18) de reformage combiné. Le méthane résiduel produit dans l'étage principal est soumis à une réaction dans un étage secondaire comprenant un réacteur (18) à membrane de transport d'oxygène. La chaleur produit dans l'étage secondaire est transférée au réacteur (22) chauffé au gaz afin de lui permettre de fonctionner. Le flux (12) de gaz de combustion est refroidi (26), et l'eau (30) en est extraite pour permettre la production du dioxyde de carbone (32) à une concentration d'au moins 85 pour-cent mol.
