L'invention a pour objet la fabrication du 1,1,1--trifluoroéthane par fluoration du 1-chloro-l,1--difluoroéthane avec de l'acide fluorhydrique anhydre. La réaction est réalisée en phase liquide et en présence d'un catalyseur de fluoration. Le 1,1,1-trifluoroéthane est principalement destiné en mélange avec d'autres HFC, à remplacer le F22 (chlorodifluorométhane) et le F502 (mélange azéotropique de F22 et de chloropentafluoroéthane) dans le domaine de la réfrigération, de l'air conditionné et autres applications.
