X-6579 Abstract The present invention provides a process for preparing N-methyl-2,4-dinitro-N-phenyl-6-(trifluoro- methyl)benzenamine comprising treating 2-chloro-3,5 dinitrobenzotrifluoride in the presence of N,N-dimethyl- formamide and pyridine with a fluorinating reagent to provide 2-fluoro-3,5-dinitrobenzotrifluoride, which is finally reacted with N-methylaniline.
