-1- Abstract A new method of synthesizing a zeolite having the structure of ZSM-50 comprises preparing a mixture containing sources of alkali metal oxide, optionally an oxide of aluminum, a dibenzyldimethylammonium compound, an oxide of silicon and water and having a composition, in terms of mole ratios, within the following ranges: SiO2/Al2O3 > =100 H2O/OH =70-500 OH/SiO2 =0.08-0.3 M/SiO2 =0.08-0.3 R/SiO2 =0.05-1.0 wherein M is alkali metal and R is dibenzyldimethylammonium, and maintaining the mixture at a temperature of 80°C to 175°C until crystals of the zeolite are formed.
