A process for preparing fluorinated ethers, such as desflurane, comprises reacting the corresponding chlorinated ether, such as isoflurane, with anhydrous hydrogen fluoride in the vapor phase in the presence of chromia catalyst. It is emphasized that this abstract is provided to comply with the rules requiring an abstract which will allow a searcher or other reader quickly to ascertain the subject matter of the technical disclosure.
