A process is disclosed for the preparation of lithium zirconate and doped lithium zirconates for use as regenerable carbon dioxide sorbants by wet mixing zirconium hydroxide with lithium carbonate and then calcining the mixture. Due to the improved physical properties resulting from the disclosed preparation process, the lithium zirconates produced by this process are capable of absorbing carbon dioxide at high rates and in large amounts.

L'invention concerne un procédé destiné à préparer du zirconate de lithium et des zirconates de lithium dopés en vue d'une utilisation comme agents de sorption du dioxyde de carbone régénérables, et consistant à réaliser le mélange humide d'hydroxyde de zirconium avec du carbonate de lithium, puis à calciner le mélange. Du fait des propriétés physiques améliorées qui résultent du procédé de préparation susmentionné, les zirconates de lithium produits au moyen de ce procédé permettent d'absorber le dioxyde de carbone à des vitesses élevées et en grandes quantités.
